Q: What is the HCMA?
A: The Healthcare Communication & Marketing Association, Inc. (HCMA) is a non-profit, national association of healthcare marketing, communications, and education professionals dedicated to enhancing and optimizing the careers of its members

Q: What is the mission of the HCMA?
A: The HCMA recognizes excellence in marketing, communications and education that impacts and improves health.

Q: How has the HCMA been formed?
A: The HCMA has been formed by a consolidation of all of the respective resources of the Healthcare Marketing & Communications Council, Inc. (HMC), Medical Marketing Association, Inc. (MMA), and Midwest Healthcare Marketing Association (MHMA) into 1 national organization

Q: Why has the HCMA been formed?
A: Launched on January 1, 2008, HCMA was established to better serve the needs of healthcare marketing, communications, and education professionals in the manufacturing and service sectors

Q: Who leads the HCMA and what is the organizational structure?
A: HCMA is led by a board of directors who represent all industry segments and geographic regions of the country. The board is assisted by many volunteer committees, sub-committees, and a dedicated staff. The principal offices of the Healthcare Communication & Marketing Association, Inc. are located in suburban Philadelphia at 19 Mantua Rd., Mt. Q: How will the HCMA service the needs of these professionals?
A: The HCMA will serve a national constituency and provide:
A more comprehensive offering of educational resources (programs/services) across all career phases Standardized training and accredited programs Greater networking and mentoring opportunities National recognition of excellence in marketing, communications, and education

Q: What are some of the educational events and innovative programs supported by the HCMA?
A: There are several educational events throughout the year which address the current and future needs of the healthcare marketing, communication and education communities. These include several postgraduate level executive education programs designed to build the skills needed for success. Each of these innovative programs are distinct and held throughout the year and across the United States at the following leading institutions: University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Q: As a non-profit entity, how is capital raised for the organization?
A: The HCMA maintains an active and ongoing fundraising campaign that will help contribute to the solid foundation for the future growth of the new organization. There are several levels of contribution. At each level, there are significant values and benefits to the contributing organization.

Q: How will the funds be utilized?
A: Your company’s contribution will help develop the infrastructure for HCMA, it will support the core offerings and provide the ability to develop future programs to ensure the organization’s success.

Q: What is the current membership base for the HCMA? How can an individual become a member of the HCMA?
A: On January 1, 2008, all members in good standing of the Healthcare Marketing & Communications Council, Inc. (HMC), Medical Marketing Association, Inc. (MMA), and Midwest Healthcare Marketing Association (MHMA) automatically became members of HCMA.

After January 1, 2008, renewing members from Healthcare Marketing & Communications Council, Inc. (HMC) and Medical Marketing Association, Inc. (MMA), can renew via HCMA’s web site.

Potential first-time (new) members, and past members of any of these organizations’ individuals are encouraged to join the Healthcare Communication & Marketing Association. Individual’s can join HCMA for 1 year ($199) or two years ($358). Student and retiree rates are also available.
