HCMA now takes on the legacy that HMC began in 1999 when they teamed with both the University of Mississippi's School of Pharmacy and the Arnold and Marie Schwartz School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Long Island University to recognize, honor, and encourage students to engage in a career in healthcare marketing via a scholarship program.
These annual scholarships are named for industry stalwarts and supporters of healthcare marketing professionals' professional and career development. The program now includes four universities additionally including the Medical Journalism School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Farleigh Dickenson University.
The fifth scholarship, begun in 2007, is available only to HCMA members and offers the opportunity to attend an executive education program tuition free.
Healthcare marketing, medical journalism, and healthcare entrepreneurship are each supported through these scholarships to ensure a future rich with talented professionals who can provide the public with better healthcare through marketing and communications.
